Goodbye to Happy, a four-legged park volunteer who lived up to his name until the end.Illustration for National Parks Magazine Winter 2018 Issue.

This assignment was a commission for an inspiring canine park volunteer named Happy. Happy was known for bringing comfort to people in hospitals, senior care centers, and Flight 93 National Memorial.

Photo Essay: Paradise at Rainier

This photo essay was published on a blog called “Tales of Wander” by a clothing and gear company called HAVAIII Co. Venturing out to Rainier National Park meant hopping on a 6-hour flight from New York, and then embarking on a 5-hour round trip drive from Tacoma. This may seem a bit much for a day-hike, but to me, it was entirely worth it.
